Zoo Atlanta Host The 2011 Beastly Feast

Saturday night Zoo Atlanta hosted The Beastly Feast, their extremely upscale, sophisticated signature gala of the year to benefit mission-critical conservation and education efforts, contributing directly to Zoo Atlanta’s reputation as a national leader in animal care and preservation of endangered species.

Individual tickets for the evenings festivities started at $450, and corporate tables were available starting at $5,000. The Zoo made for a unique venue and the animals as the backdrop was the perfect entertainment as you walked along the path. Literally, at every nook and cranny of the path were bartenders mixing top shelf cocktails and Hors D’oeuvres from some of Atlanta’s well know restaurants such as Spice Market, Dantanna’s, Rathbun’s, Straits, Imperial Fez and more. There were so many Hors D’oeuvres along the path, guests were wondering if their appetite would allow room for the seated dinner.

Guest were wildly entertained as we experienced the Zoo’s newest exhibit, Complex Carnivores, with three new mammal species and a carnivorous plant bog! There was also an opportunity to see the feedings of the Lions, Gorillas, Orangutan’s, Tigers and the Giant Panda’s. Learning and getting up close and personal with the 12yr old Geico was such fun and everyone gathered around to take a look at him.

The Ford Motor Company was the gala’s presenting sponsor and it’s no wonder that Ford was a sponsor because their presence in the Atlanta Community has continued to make an impact over the years. As part of Operation Goodwill, Ford is expected to contribute more than $1million dollars in the Atlanta area over two years to support non-profits and various educational initiatives. It’s evident through their work with the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Georgia Tech, Imagine It! Children’s Museum of Atlanta, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Zoo Atlanta and more that they are excited and anxious to let Atlanta know that they care about being a visible brand in our community. We all thoroughly enjoyed  watching the Gorilla’s play in the Ford African Rain Forest and guest took a lot of pictures to prove it!

As we all approached the end of the path to our final destination, there was a beautiful tent with hundreds of live and silent auction items from generous locals and corporations. Items ranged from A pair of roundtrip Business Class tickets to fly to Los Angeles to attend the 39th Annual American Music Awards in November courtesy of The Coca-Cola Company and Air Tran Airways to a Cam Newton signed framed photo collage from AllStar Enterprises.

The ambience of the Ford Pavillion where the seated dinner, live music, dancing and live and silent auctions took place was amazingly themed and designed by the creative talents of Tony Brewer & Company. The leopard table runners were a fantastic touch and the vibe in the venue felt magnificent.

As the night drifted, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was spotted with a beautiful lady on his arm and enjoying the evenings events. The Beastly Feast was definitely a Social Scene worthy of any Tastemakers time! As you plan your social calendar for next year be sure this event is top of your list and word to the wise…pack comfy cute shoes!
