A Fresh Start

Beginning on June 7, the Georgia Fresh Start Program will provide assistance to low-income households who are facing repossession, foreclosure or utility disconnection.

In order to receive assistance, an applicant must have at least one of the following:
·  foreclosure notice·  demand for possession·  dispossessory notice·  eviction notice ·  new rental agreement·  past due utility bills or disconnect notice
·  disconnected utilities
The applicant must be:
·  A U.S. citizen or legal immigrant
  A Georgia resident
·  A caretaker of a minor, dependent child living in the home, or the parent of a minor child who lives with another parent
·  Have gross monthly household income at or below
 300% of the Federal Poverty Level

The maximum assistance amount is $3,000.

This program is funded through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) through the Georgia Department of Human Services and administered by The United Way of Metro Atlanta. Households needing assistance should call the local United Way office for assistance.
